Dedicated EV Charging Infrastructure Installation for Mamas & Papas Head Office
J. Shaw Group has successfully completed a substantial electric vehicle charging infrastructure project at the Mamas & Papas head office in Huddersfield.
The project involved creating a new dedicated 200A electrical supply for the company’s car-parking facility, together with upgraded Schneider Electric switchgear, associated civil engineering works and the installation of Rolec Quantum 22kW EV charging points.
Dedicated 200A EV Infrastructure Supply
To provide the electrical capacity required for the new charging facility, J. Shaw Group installed a dedicated 200A three-phase electrical supply.
The new infrastructure was designed to provide a robust and reliable power source for the installed charging points while also supporting the operational requirements of a busy commercial head office.
Our electrical installation included:
- Dedicated 200A three-phase EV infrastructure supply
- New LV distribution equipment
- Schneider Electric switchgear modifications and additions
- Submain cabling between the building and car park
- Underground electrical infrastructure
- Local distribution and isolation equipment
- Power supplies to each EV charging point
- Electrical testing and certification
The installation was carefully coordinated with the existing electrical system to ensure the additional EV charging load could be safely accommodated.
Schneider Electric Switchgear Upgrade
As part of the project, the existing low-voltage distribution equipment was updated and extended using Schneider Electric switchgear.
The switchgear installation was configured to accommodate the new 200A EV supply and provide suitable protection, isolation and distribution for the charging infrastructure.
All modifications were carefully planned to integrate with the existing electrical installation while minimising disruption to the day-to-day operation of the head office.

Complete Civil Engineering Package
The project required more than the electrical installation alone. J. Shaw Group also coordinated and delivered the associated civil engineering works required to route the new electrical supplies across the car-parking facility.
The civil works included:
- Excavation of new cable routes
- Installation of underground service ducts
- Preparation of charging-point foundations
- Routing of electrical supplies through the car park
- Protection of underground electrical infrastructure
- Reinstatement of the affected surfaces following installation
Coordinating the electrical and civil elements as one complete package allowed the project to progress efficiently and provided Mamas & Papas with a single point of responsibility throughout the installation.
Rolec Quantum 22kW EV Charging Points
Rolec Quantum 22kW three-phase EV charging points were installed within the head office car park.
The Rolec Quantum units provide a professional and durable charging solution suitable for commercial car parks, workplaces and fleet-charging environments.
Each charging point was securely mounted, electrically connected and positioned to provide convenient access for electric vehicles using the facility.
The completed installation provides Mamas & Papas with dedicated on-site charging facilities for staff, visitors and company vehicles while supporting the organisation’s transition towards electric transport.
Testing and Commissioning
Following completion of the electrical and civil engineering works, the new EV charging infrastructure was inspected, tested and commissioned by J. Shaw Group’s qualified engineers.
Testing was undertaken across the complete installation, including the new 200A supply, Schneider switchgear, distribution equipment, underground cabling and individual charging points.
The charging equipment was then commissioned and verified to confirm correct and safe operation.
Complete Commercial EV Charging Solutions
This project demonstrates J. Shaw Group’s ability to deliver complete commercial EV charging installations—from initial electrical infrastructure and LV switchgear upgrades through to civil engineering, underground cabling, charger installation, testing and commissioning.
By managing the complete package, our team delivered an integrated charging facility designed around the requirements of the Mamas & Papas head office and its car-parking environment.
We are proud to have supported Mamas & Papas with the development of its workplace EV charging infrastructure in Huddersfield.
